Pimlico Painters & Decorators

A quotation that describes the work you mean.

The most useful first brief tells us whose property is involved, which surfaces need attention and what must be accommodated while the work takes place. Those details give the quotation its substance.

Discuss your project

For a flat or whole house

List the rooms and describe the ceilings, walls and painted joinery you want included. Mention tall ceilings, cornices, fitted cupboards and any wallcoverings. Describe the visible condition and whether rooms will remain occupied. Distinguish decorating from any repair or alteration already planned, and explain how furniture and personal belongings can be moved during the work.

For a freeholder or managing agent

Send the scope by elevation, entrance or stair core, using the building’s own descriptions. Identify the parties responsible for instruction, colour approval and resident notices. Include any tender specification, earlier finish schedule and relevant permissions already held. Clarify whether individual windows, flat doors or balconies belong within the shared commission or need separate arrangements.

For preparation and access

Show difficult areas as clearly as the main surfaces: the upper cornice, a stair turn, the back of railings or the wall beneath a balcony. Describe the approach from the street, available storage and any restrictions supplied by the building. Access equipment and permits, where needed, should have defined responsibilities in the proposal rather than remain an assumption about the site.

When reviewing the proposed price

Read the amount alongside the included preparation, products, number of components and working arrangements. Resolve unclear exclusions before acceptance and ask how additional work would be instructed. Keep dates subject to the agreed scope and necessary arrangements. Use the contact page to send the first outline; a detailed enquiry helps identify what still needs discussion before the work can be confirmed.
